The part-time Diploma programme in Mridangam (3 years) is designed to fulfil the needs for aspiring learners to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies for efficiently playing the Mridangam. The modules have been designed to impart to students the skills and techniques for solo performances and to provide accompaniment to vocal and instrumental music and dance. This programme also caters for artistic and cultural education for the development of creative potentials in the learner and for innovation in the field.

Entry Requirements
- 1. General Entry Requirements:
(a) Minimum of three (3) credits with at least a “Pass” grade in the English Language at one sitting at the School Certificate or General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level
and
(b) Passes in at least two (2) subjects at Principal Level at the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or General Certificate of Education Advanced Level.

2. Programme Specific Requirements:
(c) A Certificate in Performing Arts (Mridangam) from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute or a recognized institution.
OR
Equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Mahatma Gandhi Institute.
